Project Date:

Scope of Works:

  • Supply and installation of 22m Britflex BEJ10 expansion joint system
  • Fabrication and installation of durbar-pattern anti-slip pedestrian plates
  • Delivery within restricted night-time working windows

BridgeCare were appointed to undertake the replacement of an existing modular expansion joint system at Bishop’s Bridge Road, London, located adjacent to Paddington Station.

The existing joint had exceeded its service life and required replacement within a highly congested urban environment, with strict programme constraints to minimise disruption to surrounding infrastructure and pedestrian routes.

The works included the installation of 22m of Britflex BEJ10 expansion joint system together with replacement anti-slip footway cover plates, completed during four night shifts. New durbar-pattern footway plates were fabricated and installed to improve long-term durability and pedestrian safety.

Careful planning and coordinated delivery ensured the works were completed safely and efficiently within the restricted possession window.
